Only one game remains in the men’s Olympic soccer tournament. After Morocco dominated Egypt 6-0 to secure the bronze, it’s down to France and Spain – two very familiar faces – for the gold and silver.
While both of these countries are known for their prowess in soccer, it’s been over thirty years since either nation won Olympic gold (Spain 1992; France 1984). Spain has come close since then, winning silver in 2021 and 2000, but France hasn’t been all that close.
It’s been a long road for both Spain and France to get here. France barely squeaked out a 1-0 win over the pre-tournament favorite Argentina in the quarterfinals. Spain, meanwhile, faced trouble in the semifinals, needing a goal in the 85th minute to secure the victory. This will be Spain’s fifth Olympic finals, tying the all-time record (Brazil).
Here’s the full men’s soccer bracket, plus how to watch the gold medal match.
